Heathcliff, a young orphan, is brought back to live with the Earnshaw family at Wuthering Heights, a desolate old home in the middle of the Yorkshire moors. Though subjected to cruelty, he develops a close relationship with Cathy, the daughter of the house – a bond that will follow them both to the grave, leaving chaos and destruction in its wake, as well as the fall of the two households, the Earnshaws and the Lintons.
