This was the start of a brief venture into management by an old0time actor called William Ryan. It lasted less than a year. "Old Chum" notes that "At one time it was used as a theatre, the show being run by an old-time melodramatic actor. William Ryan, whom I first met supporting G. V. Brooke in leading parts in the fifties. I don't think Mr. Ryan—whose family name was Arrowsmith—made a fortune
