Description Nick' s boarding house, Newtown 1963 is the setting for THE PROMISED WOMAN. It's the year of the Beatles, Dean Martin, the assassination of JFK, the beehive hairstyle and when thousands of new immigrants foremost of whom were the Greeks began to call Australia home. The play opens and Nick's place is soon thrown into confusion with the arrival of new boarder, Tellis, who becomes the envy of the other boarders when he flashes a photo of Antigone, his 'promised woman'.
