Description |
This play is almost unplayable and completely unappealing codswallop as the dreary Betty-Ann and her dreary mother seem to compete as to who is the dreariest. A black comedy with music. Originally titled 'Hitler had a Mummy Too', this play explores a mother/daughter relationship and asks the question 'can we ever escape our conditioning?'. The two characters, Mummy and Betty compete for supremacy in a macabre, emotionally charged battle ground where both characters compete for supremacy in the relationship. Often seen as a 'sacred cow', the play offers another look at a mother /daughter and explodes some myths about how loving and tolerant this particular relationship is.
