Description |
This play was originally presented by the Repertory Theatre in 1938. "Not only is it an outstanding example of Australian playwriting; it is a fine piece of 'theatre' judged by any standard. The play depicts a phase of station life in the sparsely settled outback in all its harsh reality. ... The play is an apologia for the men without wives who, removed from the influence of white women, seek the company of the black; but it is a hym of praise, too, for those few white women who, by sharing the rugged life of the North, display a courage which surpasses even that of their menfolk. |
