The revised production follows the story the musical and retains Lionel Bart's classic songs, but has played around with the setting. It is set in modern Australia in the year 2020, where there is no longer a minimum working age or a minimum wage. Although agriculture has been devastated because of climate change, mining and high-tech computer manufacturing are booming and both sectors need young, low-skilled workers to keep their machinery operating. |
