| Description |
12 plays set in 12 different locations based on themes drawn from an ancient Chinese cosmology called the 12 Branches of Life. In a series of two handers, the young Melbourne playwright Raimondo Cortese draws minimalist portraits of the human condition in a contemporary urban context. Simply presented, with an emphasis on text and one-to-one delivery, all of the 25 minute pieces are carefully juxtaposed. In all there are eight pieces which can be seen over two nights, 4 short plays per program: Inconsolable, Borneo, Pertoleum, Legacy, Fortune, Night, Sickness and Work. Raimondo (Features of Blown Youth) is at the forefront of new writing for the Australian stage and his brother Adriano directs this talented company in a radically simple and powerful way, exploring the momentary epiphanies between strangers. |
