Description | The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hannu Lintu and the Adelaide Chamber singers directed by Carl Crossin perform this rarely heard cantata. Originally written as a radio piece, it documents the drama of the first trans-Atlantic flight by Charles Lindbergh. This was an international news story that grabbed the imagination of both poet and composer. They interpreted the event in a typical combination of ironic heroism. A highly dramatic libretto set with inventive brilliance by that pioneer of twentieth century music theatre, Kurt Weill and in the second half a work which promises to raise the very roof of the town hall - a huge combined effort by the musical and dramatic forces of Adelaide. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
