Description |
The first night performance was "flat" due to the "fastidiousness" of the audience, but the second night audience was "determined not to rate the abilities of the unpretending amateur with those of the professional actor." Mr. Elwes made a "liberal contribution in aid of the funds of the corps." Without Mr. Hillman's "unremitting attention" the plays would "never have been produced in the proper manner if produced at all." |
