Malo (pronounced ?Mahlaw? meaning peace, well done).
Rituals, ceremonies, are present in every culture. A common thread in all rituals and ceremonies is the intent of touching, discovering and drawing forth of the individual?s spirit. Reflecting upon my experience of Polynesian and Western cultures, the images portrayed in this dance are a reflection of cultural differences and similarities.
The idea of freeing the spirit through the procedure of a ritual/ceremony intrigued me, especially within religion. As a young boy, I loved the experience of going to mass and being part of a community |
