Description The play revolves around the life of Australian airmen holding out on a tiny air strip on one of the small islands off the southern coast of New Guinea at a critical period in the war. The squadron leader is the central figure. With nerves shattered by four years of constant fighting, it is his job to keep the "fledglings" of the air force up to the mark.
