Description |
The work is scary. The form is scary as it pulls magnetic opposites together - narrative and abstraction - and lets them spin off each other. This is a constant tension in my work - as I am fascinated by form and seduced by story. The content is scary as it is based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. In the original seventeenth century story she is eaten by the the wolf - punished for her curisoity and provocative dress. in their interpretation, the Brothers Grimm altered the end with Little Red Riding Hood filling the wolf's stomach with rocks. In both versions, childhood is lost. - Gideon Obarzanek |
