Description |
Performed in Spanish, Piazzolla's 'tango opera' Maria de Buenos Aires journeys deep into the nightlife and underworld of Buenos Aires. Its surrealist style engages actors, singers, magicians and tango dancers in a heady cocktail of hedonism, sex and death.
" ... Piazzolla wrote music that nees to be lived and breathed. Each movement of this operita captures a different facet of the tango, and of Maria, the cantor and "the Goblin". It is a great pleasure to reproduce his music as it was intended - complete with Argentinian Bondoneon player and stage full of performers." Timothy Sexton |
