Title |
Theatrette for B.H. Repertory Society |
Abstract/Description |
The Broken Hill Repertory Society is planning the construction of its own Theatrette in Wills Street at a cost of £10,000. The building will be a completely self-contained unit of modern design which allow full expansion of Society's activities. The building will be constructed on a vacant block at the rear of the Railway Town Post Office, formerly owned by The Service Stores. - The Society has been conducting its plays in the Police Boys' Club theatrette since it was opened in 1945. However, with the expansion of both the club and the Society's activities, accommodation at the club has become inadequate. Under the present arrangements only the last three rehersals are held at the Theatrette. The rest are held at premises in Argent Street, which are too cramped for requirements. With the new building, the Society's whole program will be conducted under one roof, and should stimulate interest in its activities. - It is understood that necessary arrangements to launch the project will have been made by the end of the month. |
