| Title |
Producer Surveys the Theatre. Fervour, Warmth Needed In Stage Plays For Australians |
| Abstract/Description |
The sickness which afflicts the theatre in Australia-its symptoms
are the slow decline of once - flourishing theatre groups, and the conversion of legitimate playhouses into cinemas-has been diagnosed in many ways. It has been ascribed to lack of interest, or the public's suspicion of "culture"; to thecomparative youth of the country; to physical difficulties such as the smallness of the population and the immensity of distance. |
