The Criterion Theatre, which has witnessed nearly half a century of theatrical fortunes, is to be demolished. It will open its doors for the last time on the evening of Saturday, July 13, and in this article the author relates some of its many vicissitudes and recalls many of the famous plays and players that have held or strutted its historic boards. |
