Obituary of Charles Burford |
| Abstract/Description |
Most people whose business, takes them about the theatres knew the time-worn old man who guarded the stage entrance at Her Majesty's, but few knew that this was Charles Burford, once first favourite of the audiences at the old 'Vic. in Pitt -street, and who was so popular with the 'gods' that when he was playing Richmond to Kean's Richard III, the aforesaid ' gods ' insisted on calling Burford before the star. |
