Title Success of Charley's Aunt at Minerva
Abstract/Description A NEW streamlined Charley's Aunt achieved a spontaneous success at the Minerva Theatre last night. Charles Norman, in the title role, headed one of the best casts yet seen on this stage. The new play, as re-written by Jevon Brandon Thomas, son of the original author, has been improved, immeasurably by the addition of topical gags and the deletion of the long soliloquies. It has been modernised with many subtle touches which, when their results are pooled, make a highly attractive, swift-moving comedy out of an 1890 farce.
