Solomon’s Ford |
| Abstract/Description |
Solomon’s Ford is an area of rock-strew rapids at a narrowing of the river. On today’s map it lies between the suburbs of Avondale Heights and Sunshine North. The narrowing was used because it is perfect place to catch fish, the gaps between rocks being used to funnel fish into woven fish traps. This site, as a place for Aboriginal fish traps, was recorded by the New South Wales Surveyor-General Charles Grimes on a visit in 1803. 4 photographs of Solomon's Ford plus 1 photograph looking upstream from Solomon's Ford |
