| Abstract/Description |
This collection consists of papers relating to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane-New Renter's Trustees from 1812 to 1892. In 1809 the thearte burnt down when it was under the ownership of Richard Brinsley Sheriden (1751-1816), who was subsequently granted permission for it to be rebuilt in 1812. In order to raise funds to rebuild the theatre Renter Shares were sold, once the theatre was complete and productions were running the share owners received dividends of a pre-fixed amount from the income generated by performances. |
