| Notes | Petersburg was renamed Peterborough in 1917 when anti-German sentiment was at its height. This town hall was the former Institute Building, transferred to the Corporate town of Petersburg in 1889. Additions, approved by ratepayers in 1893, provided for a new stage and dressing rooms, new library and reading room at the front, and a council chamber. Replaced by a new town hall in 1927 adjacent to the site of the original building. | |
