“Enjoy the cinematic masterpiece!” exclaims Butt the Private Eye as he runs like mad through the audience, cuing them for their sound effects and lines as he sets up the story for the evening. A lamp protrudes from his back, swinging around as if it has a deranged mind of its own, covering the audience in a film noir filter of shadows and contrast. Butt Kapinksi is not just your typical hard-boiled detective in the vein of Phillip Marlowe and Sam Spade. As he will tell you, he is the director, cinematographer, scriptwriter, star and fluffer of this film. If you already know what a fluffer is, then you know what kind of show you have in store for you. |
