| Description | The Australian Embassy is holding the “Meet Australia at Ewha” festival in May at Ewha Womans University, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Australia. The festival includes exhibitions by Australian artists, performances and poetry readings.
The festival provides a unique opportunity to learn about literature from down under. Poetry reading by Australia’s major poets will begin at 3 p.m. on May 20 at Ewha Womans University Museum Auditorium. The audience will have a rare opportunity to hear poems recited by Barry Hill, Ivy Alvarez and Terry Jaensch and to participate in discussions with the three poets. “When it comes to Australia, Korean people often think of visible images such as a vast continent, the Opera House, Koalas and Kangaroos,” said Ambassador Sam Gerovich. “The event ‘Meet Australia at Ewha’ will be a good opportunity for people in their 20s to experience and understand the diversity of Australian culture.” The poets also provided readings at Yeonhui Wirters' Village and participated at the International Seoul forum for Literature between 15-28 May 2011. |
