Public Language was a set of three exhibitions that deal with the emergence of authorship within an expanded concept of iconography and conceptual relationship to traditional media.
Exhibition 1 is composed of artists who are exploring iconography and media of historical representation. The issues raised in this presentation address the language of art practice, specifically, the notion of authorship embodied in the appropriation of iconographical reference.
