Description |
Laclos' scandalous novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, written in 1781 has been dramatised by East German playwright Heiner Mueller into theatrical form. Quartet will see its Australian premiere at the Adelaide Fringe. Featuring Gertraud Ingeborg and David Ritchie, Quartet explores animal lust and human reason colliding with savage humour through the erotic encounters of two decadent aristocrats. "There is no better way of making yourself familiar with death than by connecting it with the notion of sexual excess." - the Marquis de Sade once wrote. It could be a motto for this play. |
