Description Puppets and humans come together in this interpretation of Buchner's tale of love, desperation and murder. Alban Berg's Opera Wozzeck and a seminal Werner Herzog movie are based on Buchner's story of an ordinary man driven by circumstances to self destruction. Woyzech on the Highveld brilliantly combines animation, actors, almost life-size puppets and haunting music. William Kentridge, writer, artist and film maker, transposes the German classic to the shanty shebeens and shacks of a 1940s Johannesburg mining township, imposing his mastery over a myriad of art forms.
