| Description | The [historical] period of the play takes us back to the Court of the gay Louis XV of France, where luxury ran riot and wanton extravagance was the order of the day. Into this dazzling environment steps the alluring little milliner Du Barry, and she wins all hearts by her beauty, her coquettish charm and her brilliant wit, becoming the central figure in a series of exciting scenes and incidents which are said to be as historically accurate as is possible for stage purposes. [She has a love affair with the dashing King's Guardsman Cosse Brissac, and subsequently marries the Comte Du Barry.] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
