Description Most of the work rests on minor characters, notably Harold Bub Hicks, a rustic Freshman from Oshkosh. The latter is the leading joke-town of America—what Waipukurau is to New Zealand. Hicks, impersonated by Mr. Athol Tier, evidently comes from the tall grass, as another character puts it. Mr. Tier, who was last in Auckland with a costume comedy company, is a really clever comedian. His assets are length, a complete set of double joints, and the appearance of being made chiefly out of indiarubber. He does a very amusing eccentric dance, and his singing of, 'I Miss My Swiss,' with such accessories as a portable alp and a stuffed cow, is one of the best things of the evening.
