It is the story of the great wrong done Jean Torquenie, who is wrongfully convicted of the murder of the Comte de Tremeillan, while his judge, 'the just, upright man,' who condemned him, is the murderer, and the secret of his guilt is imparted to the Abbe Dubois in the confessional.
