'Several real Maoris, whose presence imparted the real local colour to the play, were included among the performers, and they gave some war dances which were immensely appreciated and loudly applauded.' (ODT Review). Miss Gladys Leigh was ill, and the role of Mavis on the first night in Christchurch was played at short notice by Miss Minna Phillips. Miss May Beatty took Minna's role of Sophia.
