On the circumstances of the disappearance of a silver cigarette box from the breakfast room of John Barthwick, M.P., the playwright works in an effective study in contrasts between the life and circumstances of the Barthwicks and the Joneses, using the fact that the charwoman, Mrs. Jones, is the natural (and innocent) theft suspect. |
