Description |
The play, about a poor Chinese student who wants a world of peace in which to practice his art and then finds that art grows only from struggle and darkness and despair, is put together from the ever-so-quaint and delicate point of view of a Westerner whose understanding of the East is based on 'The Mikado," ' The Geisha," and all the fans and frail ceramics and little jade trinkets he might have seen in a London auction room. |
