| Description |
A white woman picks up a middle class black man on the New York subway. Her initial flirtation changes to taunts and abruptly to mind and body violence. Written in 1964, this heavily symbolic one-act play by LeRoi Jones (the writer changed his name to Amiri Baraka in 1967) explores the depth of race hatred and racial oppression in the American psyche. |
