| Title |
Shakespeare in the Open Air. Midsummer Night's Dream |
| Abstract/Description |
On Saturday night, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was disclosed to a large audience, and received with obvious delight. Within the limits of amateur experience, it was finely spoken. The more delicate shades of emphasis were lacking, certainly; and at times a greater sweep and sonority would have launched the dialogue more firmly across the
distance, which .separated actors from auditors. But every word could be heard; and that is saying a good dea.l What is more, there were moments of genuine dignity and even of
power. |
