Description | Perhaps the closest of all our Australian Music Theatre works to the Chamber Opera form, this is a first opera for composer Jonathan Mills and award-winning poet Dorothy Porter. This dark dramatic work explores the isolation and danger of the Australian outback through the particular isolation and dread fantasy of a woman left alone. In The Thereal Eye Jonathan Mills forecast his explorations with built percussion, and in his first opera this takes on startling proportions as the set itself incorporates much of the highly inventive scoring. Uniquely Australian in its themes, The Ghost Wife |
