Description |
The Freedom Of The City, by Brian Friel, is not a pleasant piece of theatre. Although it was written in the early 1970's, shortly after the Bloody Sunday massacre in Northern Ireland, the basic still relevant and prevalant all over the world...written in largely documentary form, the play starts with the three dead bodies of the lead characters lying on stage, and the subsequent Crown commission into the events which led to their arbitrary army execution. |
