Description |
The latest work by Robert Lepage is inspired by the life and work of Hans Christian Anderson. It draws on Lepage's customary visual flair, sophisticated use of video projection, sound engineering and scenic machinery. It is partly a meditation on the end of romanticism and partly a satire on opera house bureaucracy gone mad. The production weaves together a series of narrative threads. These include a modern day story which begins in the steamy cubicles of a Parisian sex shop before moving seemlessly back in time to Anderson's trip to the World's Fair in Paris in 1867 and his fairytales "The |
