Description

Energy explodes uninhibitedly in the African-derived dances of this marvelous company. The 30-member troupe of dancers, musicians and singers from the northern Brazilian state of Bahia are descendants of the slaves of West Africa. Their distinctive style draws heavily on the African rites of Candombie, the religion of southern Nigeria, blended with the Portuguese influences of the New World.
