Description "The ballet tells the story of James, a young Scottish farmer who, although already engaged to Effie, falls in love with an elusive tree fairy - the Sylphide. He follows her into the forest where he encounters a witch who offers to cast a spell that will transform the Sylphide into a human form. But it is a trick - with tragic consequences."
Performances also include short pieces showcasing Bournonville's choreographic style. These are Le Conservatoire, Grand Tarantella and the pas des deux from The Flower Festival in Gerzano.
