Australian

  • AustLit - the Resource for Australian Literature, providing authoritative information on hundreds of thousands of creative and critical Australian literature works relating to more than 100,000 Australian authors and literary organisations. Its coverage spans 1780 to the present day. 
  • Australian Dictionary of Biography Online provides access to over 10,000 scholarly biographies of persons who were significant in Australian history.The articles are concise, authoritative accounts of the lives of significant and representative persons in Australian history. 
  • AustralianPlays.org provides a one-stop shop for theatre professionals, community groups, researchers, educators, students and others with an interest in fine writing for performance. Set up by the Australian Script Centre in collaboration with PlayWriting Australia, Currency Press and Playlab Press. 
  • australianscreen - Australia's audiovisual heritage online - is a look at the Australian film and television industry, from its earliest days to the present. You can view clips from Australian feature films, documentaries, TV programs, shorts, home movies, newsreels, advertisements, other historical footage, and sponsored films produced over the last 100 years, with curators' notes and other information about each title. 
  • Circus in Australia: An Index of Show Movements, 1833-1969 Circus, Variety, Theatrical, Musical & Allied Arts, compiled by Mark St Leon. An invaluable reference work for performing arts research, genealogy, local and economic history. Approximately 400 pages, includes searchable CD-Rom (Windows & Mac). 
  • Design and Art Australian Online (DAAO) is an open source freely accessible scholarly e-Research tool that presents biographical data about Australian artists, designers, craftspeople and curators. It is built upon the foundations of the Dictionary of Australian Artists Online. 
  • Humanities Networked Infrastructure (HuNI) enables Australian and international arts and humanities researchers to access and, through innovative tools and services, work with the combined resources of the nation’s major cultural datasets. AusStage is a data set contributor to HuNI.  
  • Trove is an aggregated information resource to materials in Australian collections developed by the National Library of Australia. It provides access to books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more. AusStage resource records link directly to articles in Trove's digitised collection of historical newspapers. Trove has incorporated the former Australia Dancing, Picture Australia and Music Australia discovery services. 

International

  • Abbey Theatre Archives collects and preserves material of every kind relating to all aspects of the Abbey Theatre and its productions, dating from 1904.
  • BAM – BAM Hamm Archives, Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York (USA). 
  • Biblioscènique – the online catalogue of the  Museu de les Arts Escèniques & Institut del Teatre, Barcelona (Spain). 
  • Centre for Ibsen Studies at the University of Oslo engages in multidisciplinary research on the nineteenth-century Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen; research areas include textual studies, performance studies, reception studies, and theatre history. The Centre provides online access to research services, including the IbsenStage database of productions, which adopted the AusStage data model. 
  • Digital Dance Archives (UK) currently gives public access, via one web platform, to five distinct collections from the National Resource Centre for Dance (NRCD), as well as Siobhan Davies RePlay (SDR). These collections represent over 100 years of British dance performance, creation and research and include photographs, films, drawings and other ephemera.The selection of modern, postmodern and contemporary work made available via the DDA demonstrates the contribution of many different dance artists to culture. 
  • ECLAP – European Collected Library of Artistic Performance (Europe). 
  • GTH – Global Theatre Histories – Cliometrics/Theatrescapes, Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich (Germany). 
  • GloPAD (Global Performing Arts Database) records include authoritative, detailed, multilingual descriptions of digital images, texts, video clips, sound recordings, and complex media objects related to the performing arts around the world, plus information about related pieces, productions, performers, and creators. 
  • Internet Broadway Database (USA) and Derek Miller's Visualising Broadway project at Harvard University. 
  • Staging Beckett at the University of Reading, UK, is building a database of Beckett productions in the United Kingdom and Ireland, based on the Performing Arts Database data model (UK). 
  • Theatre Finder – a global database of theatre venues, University of Maryland (USA). 
  • Toronto Theatre Database – a database of contemporary theatre in Toronto (Canada). 
  • Theatre Aotearoa is an archive of stage productions seen in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The archive is structured around productions and gives information about the script, writers, directors, cast and crew, venues, dates and much more. It is catalogued around genre, category and keywords (NZ).
